Undergraduate and Graduate Student Resources

Need Help with your Homework?

New Mexico Tech offers tutoring at the Office of Student Learning (OSL), located on the first floor of Speare. Students also have access to the Writing and Oral Presentation Center (WOPC) in the CLASS department for guidance in preparing papers, theses, dissertations, and presentations. For specific questions, remember that you can see professors in their offices for one-on-one assistance. Check your syllabi for office hours or schedule an appointment.

Student Jobs

As a small research institution, we value hands-on experience. Students are encouraged to apply to jobs and research projects in their department. Our collaborators include Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center, Langmuir Laboratory, Magdalena Ridge Observatory, and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Examples of current Physics Department research can be viewed on the “About Research” page. For more information, visit your department secretary located in Workman Center 333.

Career Services

At New Mexico Tech, we are proud of the Career Services department. The career services staff aid students in improving their professional skills through workshops, events, and one-on-one consultation. You can also visit the American Institute of Physics Career Services Center for information on student careers and internships.

Computer Facilities for Student

There are a variety of on campus computers for student use, including the Computer Pod in Fidel Center, the Computing Center in Gold, and the Skeen Library Computers. The Physics Department also provides workstations and computers for graduate students.

Student Common Room and Graduate Student Offices

The “Physics Lounge” and graduate student offices are located on the third floor of Workman Center. We encourage students to use the lounge for informal homework help and study sessions.
