The mission of New Mexico Tech’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is to improve the overall well-being and safety of individual students as well as the whole campus community.

If you are concerned that a student is an imminent threat to themselves or others (voicing suicidality), please contact Campus Police immediately at x5555.
Goals
- Provides a safe physical environment for members of the campus community,
- Provide a safe emotional environment for the campus community and
- Promote peace of mind for friends and family of the campus community.
What we do
- Receive information about students of concern and discuss concerning behaviors.
- Determine an appropriate, individualized intervention plan for each student in distress
(and if desired or upon request).
- Intervene and connect students with needed resources.
- Coordinate follow-up and monitoring of student status; ensure that services and resources
are deployed effectively.
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and handle matters with professional discretion.
- Referrals and follow-up, as needed.
- Receive information about students of concern and discuss concerning behaviors.
