Laser Cutting
Our VLS 6.60 laser cutters are free to use to all NMT affiliates. We do not provide any material, you must have to bring that in before coming in.

- Please bring your files, in either a flash drive, or email them to us at minersfablab@gmail.com, in .DXF file format ONLY. The files must be in a finished state, ready to cut. The laser cutter station is not meant to be used to make big changes to your files.
- Do not leave the machine unattended while it is running. Lab staff are not responsible
for your materials and your material may catch on fire.
- Small flames are to be expected
- If your material catches fire and remains on fire, notify a Lab Assistant.
- We do not hold or store materials in the lab.
- After your part is completed, keep the lid of the laser cutter closed for 10 seconds to allow smoke or vapors to be vented.
- Clean up your workstation when you are finished. You may not leave materials of any kind in or around the laser cutter.

- Hard Woods, Basswood, Birch 1/4" Max Thickness
- Plywood 1/8" Max Thickness
- Paper, Card Stock, Matboard, Butter Board Standard Thickness
- Cardboard 2-ply Max Thickness
- Natural Cork 1/4" Max Thickness
- Acrylic, Lucite, PMMA 1/16" Max Thickness
Banned Materials:
These materials will not be allowed to be used inside the laser cutter for whatever reason.
- PVC, Polyester Vinyl, Pleather
- Polycarbonate, Lexan
- Plastics, ABS, HDPE
- Foam, Polystyrene Foam, PolyPropylene Foam, Depron Foam, Gator Foam
- Fiberglass
- Coated Materials, Carbon Fiber
- MDF, OSB, Engineered Wood
- Metals
