SOCORRO, N.M. – New Mexico Tech announced that the Department of Management has received approval to change its name to the Department of Business and Technology Management effective immediately.  

Dr. Doug Wells, V.P. of Academic Affairs, said “This name change more aptly reflects the mission and goals of the department to prepare students for careers with engineering, science, and technology organizations as managers and entrepreneurs, and work with business and public organizations to stimulate economic development in New Mexico and beyond.”

The department will continue to serve all NMT students who have career interests and aspirations in management and entrepreneurship. Department faculty, administrative support, and location in Speare Hall will not change. Over the next few months, the department will change its name on emails, correspondence, and educational materials.

One of Tech’s youngest academic offerings, the Department was first launched in 1998. The department offers a bachelor’s and a minor in management with an emphasis on technology, and a master’s in engineering management. The department also runs the Office of Innovation Commercialization and hosts the annual Inventors and Entrepreneurs Workshop.
