SOCORRO, N.M. – Due to their research expertise and contributions to their fields, a prestigious list has recognized current and retired faculty members at New Mexico Tech as among the top 2% of the most cited scientists worldwide. The global database, published by an international information and analytics company and ranking scientists according to their citations, was recently updated through calendar year 2021.

The publicly available Elsevier listing – “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators" – is updated yearly and is thought to be the only large-scale database that systematically ranks 100,000 of the most-cited scientists in the world. The database provides standardized information on citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator. Separate data are shown for career-long impact, which covers citations throughout history, and single-year impact.
