Adam Ginsburg, Jansky Fellow at the NRAO, will present the Physics Department colloquium. His talk is "Star Formation in Crowds." The denser and more crowded regions that likely represent our own origins exist within our own Galaxy, and ALMA allows us to explore these regions in ways previously impossible. Ginsburg will show that high-density regions lead to the preferential formation of clusters over isolated stars. He will describe the recently-begun ALMA-IMF large program that will expand these studies to a galactic scale.4 p.m. in Workman 101.
