Katheryn Perea will present the Computer Science and Engineering Department seminar. Her talk is "The Path Less Traveled: Bioinformatics." Bioinformatics is arguably one of the most influential fields in healthcare to date, and also plays a large role in ecology, forensic science, biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Because this field is relatively new and highly volatile, many are unaware of what exactly it encompasses and where they may fit in it. Perea will cover some of the subfields within bioinformatics, pathways into a career in it, and some of the most recent developments within the field.3 p.m. in Jones Annex 101.
