This 6.5-mile hike follows the highest ridge in the southern portion of the Magdalena Mountains and has some of the best views available in the mountain range. The Sacramento Mountains, Sierra Blanca, the Black Range, and the Jemez Mountains are some of the more distant vistas. Approximately 3 miles in, ponderosa pine and pinyon juniper vegetation becomes more prominent southward along the ridge.
This trail is rated "most difficult" because of two factors. First, almost all of this trail has a very rough, primitive tread surface. Second, the elevation is almost constantly changing by utilizing many short, moderately steep climbs and descents. It is a rough walk.
We will be leaving the New Mexico Tech Swim Center parking lot at 7 a.m. Please sign-up in advance with Melissa Begay at the gym or email firstname.lastname@example.org
