New Mexico Tech hosted eight undergraduate students from across the country as part of the Intelligent Energetic Systems Engineering (INTENSE) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), which is funded by NSF Award #1757793. The students performed research alongside faculty mentors over the duration of the nine-week summer program. Students will be presenting posters of their research projects and accomplishments.
9 a.m. to noon in the Fidel Center atrium
Three teachers from the Socorro Consolidated School District participated in a Research Experience for Teachers (RET) alongside the REU activities. The teachers were exposed to campus research and developed class learning modules for implementation into their own classrooms at Parkview Elementary, Sarracino Middle School, and Socorro High School. The teachers will present posters on their research and teaching modules.
The INTENSE REU and RET research involves faculty members across Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Chemical Engineering, and is led by principal investigator Dr. Michael Hargather and co-P.I. Dr. Mostafa Hassanalian.
