The NMT Counseling Center is putting together an event on Friday, Sept. 17, for the students -- mainly freshman -- and we hope the Tech community will embrace and join in the fun!
The booths will be staffed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the campus lawn between the gym and Brown Hall.
Fresh Check Day is the signature program of the Jordan Porco Foundation. The daylong event includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways!
Fresh Check Day is not your typical suicide prevention and mental health awareness event. The booths -- the heart of Fresh Check Day -- strive to engage students through interactive activities as opposed to passive educational tabling. Booths feature a variety of topic areas including specific mental health issues, high-risk populations, stigma reduction, and positive coping and life skills. Campuses make Fresh Check Day their own by selecting a unique menu of booths to meet the needs of their students.
