NMT Academic Affairs has scheduled a series of events that for 2019 Faculty Development Week. Academic Affairs will also host two associated faculty receptions at the M-Mountain Grill at 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, and Friday, August 16. These are lots of fun and are a good way to get to know the new faculty members.
Academic Affairs will offer additional workshops during the year. All workshops will be held in the CITL (Speare 113), except where noted otherwise.
Friday, Aug 16
10 - noon: Best practices in distance education delivery. The workshop will cover topics such as course management strategies, interaction with students, available technology, etc. (Iver Davidson, ACT Staff, and current DE faculty.)
1 - 2 p.m., Protection and commercialization of intellectual property. This workshop will provide NMT Faculty with the basics of alternatives for protecting new ideas and discoveries, connecting with potential markets, proposed NMT policies governing the protection and commercialization process, and other considerations associated with monetizing their research. (Peter Anselmo, Executive Director of the Office of Innovation Commercialization.)
2:30 - 5 p.m.: Learning management software and classroom technology. Open-house for instruction/demonstration of Canvas course management software, iClickers, and other classroom technology. Drop in anytime. (Curtis Warren, Canvas Administrator.)
5 - 6:30 p.m.: Refreshments at the ‘M’ Mountain Grill. A chance for informal conversations with new faculty, continuing faculty, and administrators. Hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.
