Program Description and Requirements

The Accelerated Master Degree program provides the opportunity to obtain a BS and MS degree in Mathematics in five years. Accepted students may apply at most 12 credits from 500-level courses towards both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. It is recommended to apply to the program after completion of Math 352 and before enrolling in any graduate courses. The student will work with a professor in the Mathematics Department who will assist the student in developing the course of study and advise the student on their master’s thesis or independent study.

Outcomes

Students graduating from the NMT MS program in Mathematics will be able to:           

  • Solve a significant mathematical or statistical problem.
  • Communicate a mathematical or statistical solution in writing using professional format and correct mathematical notation.
  • Communicate the results of their work in an oral presentation.  The presentation should be well organized, clear, and demonstrate good understanding of the mathematical or statistical topic.
