Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is known to be one the most broad and popular forms of engineering. Here at New Mexico Tech the Mechanical Engineering Department has the largest undergraduate enrollment of any department on campus.  Our program and student success is driven by the two-year design clinic program which offers students the opportunity to work on real-world engineering problems with projects sponsored by industries, government agencies, and national laboratories.  The design projects span a wide range of interests and topics including robotics, auto-mechanics, prosthetics, and aerospace engineering.  The Mechanical Engineering Bachelor Degree is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org. The department has active student chapters of NSPE and ASME which offer students scholorships and networking oppurtunities to further their career and education. NSF Awards Intelligent Energetic Systems REU site to Mechanical Engineering

The National Science Foundation has established an REU at NMT for Intelligent Energetic Systems Research, led by PI Dr. Hargather.
