New Mexico Space Grant Consortium
New Mexico Space Grant Consortium invites undergraduates through PhD-level students in the areas of Engineering, Science, and Math to participate in the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium Scholarship/Fellowship Program:
Graduate Students $10,000/academic year
Undergraduate Students $5,000/academic year

Enrolled at NMSU, UNM, NM Tech, NMHU, SIPI, SJCC, DACC, WNMU, ENMU, SFCC
Engineering, Science, Math Majors may apply

Graduate Assistantships
Generally, for a graduate student to be awarded a teaching or research assistantship,
he/she should maintain the following requirements:
Degree in Computer Science or Closely Related Area.
A 4-year Bachelor degree in computer science, or closely related area, e.g., Electrical
Engineering, Computer Engineering, etc.
Official GRE Score: An official score on the Graduate Record Examinations General
Test (GRE), with Quantitative score of 159 or higher.
Full Time Student Status: The student must be registered as full-time students in
all of the semesters he/she is receiving the teaching or research assistantship award.
Research Activities for Research Assistantship: In addition to the above, a student
who seeks Research Assistantship must be actively involved in research, subject to
the approval of his/ her research advisor.
Current Opportunities
Teaching Assistantships
The Computer Science and Engineering department hires Teaching Assistants (TAs) typically for undergraduate core courses each semester. TAs should excel in the subject of the course. TAs work with the instructor, interact with students, grade assignments, conduct labs for some courses, and occasionally lecture before the class.
Research Assistantships
New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) is a Hispanic Serving Institution that is considered one of the best small science and engineering schools in North America. Integration of education and research is at the core of NMT’s mission, with more than fifty percent of the budget coming from research. Computer Science and Engineering leads the Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education and Research certification.
NMT’s Computer Science and Engineering Department seeks multiple United States citizen applicants for Research Assistant (RA) positions in its Computer Science (CS) Ph.D. program. The department is recruiting for four research assistant positions funded by three different agencies.
Candidates must have earned a bachelors and/or masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering by the time of appointment and have demonstrated potential for research. The supported research will be in information assurance / computer security / cyber security. Applicants with experience and interest in network anomaly detection, network forensics, learning systems, information fusion and prediction, data analysis, visualization and closely related areas are particularly sought.
Applicants for the below RA positions must be United States citizens. General GRE scores are required, with quantitative GRE score of 160 or higher to be highly competitive. Computer Science Subject GRE score in 85th percentile may be used for breadth requirement:

Flow Science Internship
Depending on the student’s area of concentration, this internship could be in our
user interface or solver development departments, or in our support or sales department.
Duties could include programming, testing software, performing and documenting validations,
research, and/or technical support for customers. Intern will most likely complete
3 days of standardized software training at the beginning of internship.
